I went to bed, last night, feeling great about my small 15-minute accomplishment yesterday. It’s amazing that such a small thing can make such a huge difference! I feel like the whole living room has really opened up and it just feels better and more inviting. Of course, a treadmill really does take up alot of room (and it doesn’t belong in the living room) … I just didn’t really think about that, at the time.
So, getting back to today’s extra cleaning activity, I’m still in the living room and entryway. My 15 minutes was spent cleaning up a catch-all spot. You know, the place where, as soon as someone walks in, it is this place that always seems to grow things. I have a couple of catch-all places in the living room and entryway. So, my task today was to take out that bag of items that I’ve designated to be donated to Goodwill. Currently, this bag has several items in it … a candle, a few pairs of pants and jeans, a Christmas decorative tin, and a few other items that I took out to my car. I decided that we just don’t need the extra things – and, the clothes just don’t fit anymore. That little chore took approximately 5 minutes to run it out to my car and pop it in my trunk. I’ll drop everything off the next time I’m out and about in that area.
For the next 5 minutes, I straightened up the shoe area. Then, I set a nice plant on a stand, and put it where the treadmill was setting, before it got moved yesterday. A very nice change, indeed!
I’ve got 5 minutes left to make up my 15 minutes of extra cleaning today … I think I’m going to walk around the living room and pick up all of the extra items that don’t belong in this room – the empty dishes (that the kids brought in and forgot to take back out to the kitchen), the garbage/pieces of discarded paper, the snow shovel (next to the door for).
I guess that takes care of today’s 15 minutes … I never would’ve guessed how little time this actually took to get things done. Hopefully, the rest of the house will come this easy!
